Jennifer Hanson Releases Animated Music Video For Song “Only Thing I Really Need”

Christmas EP Under the Tree Out November 3

Ahead of the Friday release of her Christmas EP, Under the Tree, Jennifer Hanson has released a wonderfully retro animated music video for the song “Only Thing I Really Need.” The feel of the lyric video is intentionally reminiscent of the classic animated Christmas TV specials she watched as a child.

“I wanted to do an animated lyric video because I thought it would be fun and fit the spirit of the song and the season,” Hanson said. “I found the animator, Viratx Doodle, on the internet when I was researching people who do animated videos. I saw one of his on YouTube and thought he’d be perfect to do my video. I’m really happy with the way it turned out—I think it matches the tone and feel of all of those classic animated Christmas specials I loved as a child.”

Under the Tree is co-produced by Hanson and Nick Brophy and features two original tracks – the title track and “Only Thing I Really Need” – as well as Hanson’s arrangement of the perennial favorite “What Child Is This.” The bonus track is an unearthed cassette of a three and a half year old Jennifer Hanson belting out “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” certain to be a favorite with all of the parents and grandparents out there looking for the perfect sing-a-long for their own tiny tot.
Hanson burst onto the music scene in 2003 with the release of her self-titled debut album on Capitol Records. The lead single, “Beautiful Goodbye,” became the highest charting debut single by a new female artist for that year. And while Hanson made a solid impact as a recording artist, it has always been her songwriting that assured her success in an ever-changing industry.

Hanson’s artistry and songs have garnered ACM, CMT and GRAMMY nominations, as well as numerous BMI, SESAC and NSAI awards. Collectively, her songs have sold millions of albums worldwide. She wrote the #1 song “Leave the Pieces,” the debut single for Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp of The Wreckers, as well as the debut single for American Idol finalist Bucky Covington, “A Different World,” which went on to become a top 5 hit on the Billboard charts.

Hanson celebrated her second #1 single with her self-penned song “Let Me Down Easy,” recorded by Billy Currington. She also wrote the title track to the movie “Country Strong,” performed by Gwyneth Paltrow. She has had songs recorded by artists such as pop sensation Kelly Clarkson, country music superstars Rascal Flatts, The CW’s One Tree Hill actress and singer Jana Kramer, rising country music star Mickey Guyton and country legends Pam Tillis, Vince Gill and Don Williams, to name a few.
