Derrick May once described Detroit Techno music as being a "complete mistake...like George Clinton and Kraftwerk caught in an elevator, with only a sequencer to keep them company." A major influence on the post-industrialist sound of Detroit Techno is the galactic Funk pioneered by George Clinton. Bands like Funkadelic, Parliament, Brides of Funkenstein, and a host of other related acts birthed a new sonic world that Detroit Techno producers modeled their cities after. Over the years George Clinton has been reworked by Detroit's vanguard artists such as Andres and Moodymann. In anticipation of a new body of work that George is producing, incorporating the electronic sounds he had a hand in inspiring, Boiler Room is celebrating his legacy and sound with a Halloween party. On Monday, October 30th, Boiler Room presents Uncle Jam Wants You: A Night With George Clinton at NYC's Sugarhill Supperclub. For Halloween, Boiler Room will pair the visionary sounds of George Clinton with Detroit Techno, featuring special guests Patrice Scott, Rimarkable and Turtle Bugg, with installations by Aya Rodriguez and Nitemind.
The party is free with limited capacity and will be live streamed live at BoilerRoom.TV. All attendees must RSVP at http://ift.tt/2i90WRZ
