A handful of contemporary R&B artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR, Bryson Tiller and Tory Lanez (to name a few) have infused a “Trapsoul” style stamp into the genre. Thanks to the production of Flexxington Don, “My Luv” takes a similar brick and mortar approach (808’s, hard kicks and snares) as Boston’s Gary Soulz delivers a verse about holding his girl down thru any issue, while the fast-rising (and 2016 XXL Frosh nominee) Ye Ali (aka Traphouse Jodeci) adds his typical swag and takes your girl; the fact that he cooks her dinner and draws her a bath after a hard day’s work only adds insult to injury. Be on the lookout for Gary Soulz upcoming EP, Soul Soundz, which will drop before the end of the spring. |
